Was Instagram down on Friday, 7 July 2023? – Here’s everything we know
Attempts to post reels and images on the Meta-owned app were unsuccessful for users in various parts of the world. While Instagram has not surfaced with a statement confirming a temporary outage, renowned app tracker Down Detector recorded error reports as early as 08:00 on Friday, 7 July 2023, with users noting issues with the app, server connection as well as logging in.
As the chart below shows, Instagram outage reports shot up considerably toward the afternoon, as more users encountered similar issues.
We, at Swisher Post, much like any other business, rely heavily on Instagram for our social media content. Repeated attempts to post reels on the platform yielded errors.
The same issue was encountered when we attempted to post a reel on Facebook.
Meta’s servers would have experienced a surge in traffic after the launch of the Threads app, the first official rival of Twitter.
The highly anticipated social media platform developed by Meta as a direct competitor to Twitter has garnered an astounding 30 million signups within mere hours of its launch, according to an announcement made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday morning.
The rapid surge in user registrations indicates the immense popularity and potential of Threads, positioning it as a significant challenger to Twitter, a social media giant owned by Elon Musk. Despite the emergence of various contenders in the past, none have managed to dethrone Twitter as one of the most iconic companies in the realm of social media.
Zuckerberg expressed his excitement about the overwhelming response, stating,
“Wow, 30 million signups as of this morning. Feels like the beginning of something special, but we’ve got a lot of work ahead to build out the app.”
This remarkable milestone is expected to continue growing rapidly as more Instagram users and social media enthusiasts create accounts on Threads.
With the rise of Threads, users now have a compelling alternative to engage with online communities and express themselves in a new digital space.
We will provide updates on the Instagram-reported outage as more information surfaces.
