Pete Davidson could be facing criminal charges over a late-night car crash in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, in March 2023.
Pete Davidson could be slammed with charges over LA car crash
Despite avoiding serious injury, the comedian is now under investigation, and the case has been passed on to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, per TMZ.
Although drugs and alcohol were ruled out as contributing factors to the crash, it is believed that Davidson was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Mercedes Benz and crashed into the side of a house.
Albeit no one was injured, Davidson could face charges related to criminal damage or reckless driving and endangerment.
Davidson was not immediately cited for the crash, which took place while he was driving with his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders. However, a recent investigation has revealed that criminal charges could still be on the table.
The comedian, who rose to fame as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, has been open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse in the past.
In 2019, he famously joked about his own struggles with addiction during a stand-up routine, saying “I’m sober for the first time in eight years … it’s like I have a f***ing superpower.”
Despite this, Davidson’s recent accident has raised questions about his responsibility as a public figure, and whether his fame and fortune will protect him from the consequences of his actions. Only time will tell what charges, if any, Davidson will face as a result of the crash.
