Nadia Nakai is still reeling from the loss of her boyfriend, Kiernan ‘AKA‘ Forbes, a month after he was viciously killed.
Nadia Nakai posts final WhatsApp texts to AKA before murder
The Bragga rapper, who’s still grieving the loss of Supermega was triggered by the sudden passing of Costa Titch, who collapsed and died on stage at Ultra Festival this past weekend.
Reacting to the untimely death of yet another top-draw entertainer, Nakai shared videos of AKA and Titch from when the duo was promoting their collab album You’re Welcome, on her Instagram stories.
Then, Nakai’s posts took a dark turn when she showed the eerie final WhatsApp text exchange she shared with AKA only hours before he was murdered.
In her last texts to the rapper, Nakai pleaded with AKA to be safe on two occasions: once the night before his trip to Durban, and again on the fateful afternoon of Friday, 10 February 2023, about nine hours before he and longtime friend and manager Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were shot and killed outside a popular restaurant on Florida Road.
More than a month has passed and investigations into the double homicide are still ongoing with no suspects arrested. Nevertheless, Police Minister Bheki Cele did recently hint at an impending break in the case.
Speaking at an anti-gang media briefing held in Westbury, Johannesburg, on Tuesday, 7 March 2023, Cele confirmed that investigators are progressively compiling a holistic timeline of events that led up to AKA’s death using data from cellphones that were collected from the rapper’s known associates and other persons of interest.
“We have collected a lot of cellphones that we are working on, download everything and try to patch things together; that’s the last I received on this matter,” he said.
The police minister pleaded for patience and assured the public that investigators “are digging deep in this case.”
“We acknowledge that it is not with the speed that the community and the nation would’ve loved to see but watch the space, we are digging deep in this case,” he added.

It’s been a sad day but what makes me feel better is that I know he died doing what he loved doing the most in this world. God bless you COSTA!!!!!” he wrote.
