Music executive Jimmy Iovine faces a lawsuit for alleged sexual abuse and forcible touching, with claims dating back to 2007.
Jimmy Iovine slammed with a summons in sexual abuse lawsuit
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of a plaintiff identified as Jane Doe by law firm Wigdor LLP, along with the law office of Kevin Mintzer, alleges that Iovine engaged in multiple instances of sexual abuse and forcible touching.
A specific incident cited in the lawsuit occurred in New York City in 2007.
The nature of the claims involves assault and battery under New York common law, as well as violations of the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act and the New York City Human Rights Law.
The lawsuit seeks an undisclosed amount in damages for physical injury, economic loss, compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, and other applicable reliefs.
This lawsuit against Iovine is among several high-profile cases undertaken by Wigdor LLP. The law firm has also represented clients in actions against other prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Sean “Diddy” Combs and Harvey Weinstein.
Iovine has yet to publicly address the allegations noted in the lawsuit. It’s worth noting that Iovine is the third prominent figure to be slammed with a sexual assault civil suit in the last week.
Besides Cassie and Diddy’s highly publicised scandal, Jamie Foxx was also recently issued a summons over an alleged sexual assault incident from 2015.
According to reports, Jane Doe was at the bar when Foxx, along with bar owner Mark Birnbaum, were nearby. The incident reportedly began with a request for a photo with Foxx, followed by compliments from the actor.
The suit alleges that Foxx then took the woman to a private spot where he groped her breasts and proceeded to touch her inappropriately under her pants.
Jane Doe claims that a security guard witnessed the assault but did not intervene. The alleged encounter ended when the woman’s friend found them, and Foxx ceased his actions.
Foxx too has yet to confront the shocking claims.
