Brian Szasz, the stepson of a billionaire passenger aboard the ill-fated Titanic submarine, finds himself embroiled in controversy as his actions come under scrutiny during this dire situation.
Brian Szasz: Stepson of billionaire court backlash for bizarre online behaviour
The 36-year-old faced ridicule on social media after engaging with an OnlyFans model on Twitter, while simultaneously seeking prayers for his missing relative.
Szasz’s Twitter account has since been deleted, leaving behind a message stating technical difficulties.
San Diego-based Szasz’s online flirtation unfolded amidst an ongoing war of words with renowned rapper Cardi B, who criticised his decision to attend a Blink-182 concert amid the search for his stepfather.
The billionaire passenger, Hamish Harding, 58, CEO of Action Aviation in Dubai, along with Shahzada Dawood, 48, a UK-based board member of the Prince’s Trust charity, and Dawood’s son Sulaiman Dawood, 19, remain unaccounted for.
While the search operation continues, tensions rose as officials reported the discovery of a debris field by the Canadian vessel, Horizon Arctic.
Utilising the Odysseus 6k remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the team ventured 20 000 feet underwater in their search efforts. Notably, the vessel also carries OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and French Navy veteran PH Nargeolet, a renowned expert on the Titanic.
Initially, Szasz appealed to his followers for continued thoughts and prayers for his family during this challenging time. However, he faced online mockery for his interaction with the OnlyFans model. Critics pointed out the perceived insensitivity of engaging in such behaviour while his stepfather’s fate remained uncertain.
Amidst the backlash, Szasz liked a post suggesting that no one should judge his coping mechanisms during this traumatic event. In response, Cardi B released a video calling him out, expressing her belief that he should be at home, anxiously awaiting updates on his stepfather instead of attending a concert. The rapper questioned Szasz’s decision to prioritise the event over his family’s welfare, igniting further controversy.

In a Facebook post, Szasz defended his attendance at the Blink-182 concert, stating that his family would want him to be there.
Sharing a snapshot from the San Diego show, he acknowledged the potential distaste associated with his presence but explained that music, particularly from his favourite band, offers solace in difficult times.
As the search for the Titanic submarine continues, public attention remains focused on the ongoing developments.
