The immense influence Drake has on social media displayed itself in fine form on Tuesday when the Canadian megastar had fans convinced he was in Johannesburg, South Africa, over a random picture.

Fans of the Hotline Bling star who stalk his every move caused pandemonium on social media when he posted an Insta Story of a landscape that looks eerily similar to the vast and lush landscape of Johannesburg’s northern suburbia.
One user, who can be credited for making the image viral on X (formerly Twitter), was convinced the 6 God was on our home soil.
Except, based on a thorough examination of the image, this could not be further from the truth.
Unfortunately, Air Drake did not land on any South Africa strip recently, if ever, for that matter. Drizzy, in fact, took the picture from a villa in Houston, Texas.
More precisely, the Canadian star was, at some point in the recent past, well accommodated near Houston’S Park Square One Condominiums.
This is not the first time South African sleuths were misled to believing Drake was in South Africa. Back in 2020, local reporters circulated fake news suggesting Drake was booked for an appearance at Konka, Soweto.
At the time, Konka Soweto released a statement, confirming that while “one day is one day”, there were no plans in place to bring the 6 God to Mzansi.
The last time Drake set foot in South Africa was in 2016 to shoot a short film‚ Please Forgive Me.
