It is official. Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham, the Canadian megastar and Hip-Hop empresario, is coming to South Africa and we have got all the details for you.
UPDATE: Please note that this archive article is, in no way, related to the latest round of fake news circulating about Drake coming to Konka Soweto. It was first speculated, in March 2020, by SA Hip-Hop Mag, that Drake was set to embark on an Africa tour, which allegedly included a stop in South Africa. Of course, this news was fake.
Konka Soweto has since released a statement, confirming that while “one day is one day”, there are no plans in place to bring the 6 god to Mzansi.

Drake, for the start of the new year, has been teasing some new music.
Fresh out of two single releases, War and Life is Good from the upcoming joint sophomore tape with fellow City Boy, Future, Drake has announced that he is coming to Africa.
Drake in South Africa: How much will tickets cost?
According to SA Hip Hop Mag, Drake will touch down in the Motherland, in March 2020, with South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria in his sights.
His Africa tour will kick off in Mzansi and these are the ticket prices for the three-city tour he will embark on:
- General: R575;
- Silver: R791;
- Golden Circle: R1 871;
- VIP: R3 238;
- VIP Plus: R10 000; and
- VIP Premier: R17 991
South Africa tour dates
Unlike other international acts that make a stop in Johannesburg for a maximum of two nights before heading back home, Drizzy’s run in South Africa will stop by in three cities.
These are the cities and dates that Drake will host his concert at, in March:
- Johannesburg: 18 March 2020;
- Durban: 20 March 2020; and
- Cape Town: 22 March 2020.
Here’s how fans reacted to the breaking news
This is the second time Drake will be visiting South Africa in his career as a rapper.
His previous visit was in 2016. Although, at the time, he was still moulding himself into the megastar he is today.
Therefore, the reception he ought to receive when he touches down in his custom-made Boeing 767 private jet, will be amplified.
Social media has erupted into complete pandemonium. Tweeps could not believe the news when it first broke, on Tuesday afternoon.
While some thought it was a hoax, others were already making preparations to remove their kidneys for a VIP Premier ticket which teases the opportunity for a meet and greet.
Obviously, the perks attached to each tier of the tickets will be fully explored in greater detail in the near future.
These are our favourite social media reactions to the news of Drizzy’s homecoming.
