It’s a big year for Alan Wake 2, scooping nominations across major categories including Game of the Year and Best Game Direction. Melanie Liburd’s performance also earned a nod, alongside nominations for Best Narrative and Art Direction. This thriller is definitely turning heads!
Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t far behind, matching Alan Wake 2‘s eight nominations.
It’s up for Game of the Year too, plus Best Game Direction and Best Narrative. Neil Newbon’s performance in Baldur’s Gate 3 has also caught the jury’s eye. This RPG is proving to be a fan and critic favourite.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is swinging in with seven nominations, while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are both standing strong with five.

The Game Awards 2023 ceremony date and how to watch live in South Africa
The Game Awards is set to be a blend of celebration, announcements, and, of course, some top-tier gaming action.
The ceremony will stream live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, on Thursday, 7 December 2023 starting at 19:30 EST.
In South Africa, nocturnal gamers can catch the action live at 02:30 CAT on Friday, 8 December 2023.
