Travis Scott could be hit with a fresh lawsuit after he allegedly assaulted a sound engineer at a nightclub in New York, US.
Travis Scott wanted by New York police: Here’s what we know
As reported by Page Six, the Escape Plan rapper was allegedly at the centre of a scuffle that broke out inside Nebula, a ritzy nightclub in Midtown Manhattan, New York, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Insiders with knowledge of the situation claim that what started as a verbal confrontation between Scott and the unnamed sound engineer quickly escalated into a bout of fisticuffs.
In the midst of the alleged scuffle, Scott also damaged the nightclub’s video screen and speaker.
From what we understand, the Sicko Mode star has yet to be formally charged with assault, since the sound engineer only filed a complaint and had no visible physical injuries on his face.
However, word on the street is he’s wanted for questioning by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
While he may skirt criminal charges, the 30-year-old rapper could be held liable for the damaged equipment, which was reportedly valued at $12 000 (est. R218 616).
Neither Scott nor the NYPD had confirmed the allegations when this article was published.
This is a developing story.
Scott’s recent run-ins with the law
This is not Scott’s first run-in with authorities over accusations of violence.
In February 2018, the Astroworld rapper pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and avoided a misdemeanour charge for inciting a riot at a concert in Rogers, Arkansas, in May 2017.
Three years later, the Houston rapper would be at the centre of one of the most tragic events in modern live events history when 10 concert-goers died in a stampede that broke out at his Astroworld Festival.
Since then, Scott has faced a class-action lawsuit filed by more than 2 800 victims who accused the rapper, Live Nation and other parties of negligence.
Scott has always maintained his innocence in the matter and in October 2022, the rapper settled his first lawsuit with the family of Axel Acosta.
