Iconic pop star Madonna has been hospitalised for several days due to a severe bacterial infection, leading to the postponement of her highly anticipated Celebration tour, as announced by her manager, Guy Oseary, on Wednesday, 27 June 2023.

The 64-year-old pop icon developed the infection over the weekend, resulting in her admission to an intensive care unit.
Oseary took to Instagram to provide an update on her condition, stating, “Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”
The “Celebration” tour, which was set to kick off on 15 July 2023 in Vancouver, was intended to showcase Madonna’s incredible four-decade career, highlighting songs that have resonated with fans over the years.
The tour spanned seven months and was eagerly anticipated by fans worldwide.
As of now, no new start date has been announced for the tour, leaving fans and ticket holders eagerly awaiting updates on the rescheduled dates.
‘Celebration’ tour sold out in these major markets
Madonna initially unveiled her 12th tour in January through a captivating five-minute black-and-white video. The video featured the pop icon engaging in conversation and playing party games with a group of famous friends.
References were made to her songs, such as S.E.X. and La Isla Bonita, as well as her documentary and concert film Truth or Dare.
The incredible demand for Madonna’s Celebration shows was evident, as tickets for performances in major cities like New York, London, Paris, and Amsterdam sold out within minutes, according to Billboard.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour was slated to visit approximately 40 cities, concluding in Mexico City on 30 January 2024.

While her European schedule featured performances in London, Barcelona, Paris, and Stockholm. Notably, New York comedian Caldwell Tidicue, popularly known as Bob the Drag Queen, was scheduled to appear as a guest for the entire duration of the tour.
“The Celebration Tour will take us on Madonna’s artistic journey through four decades,” the tour announcement emphasised, highlighting the significance of the pop star’s extensive career.
Following the tour announcement, Madonna collaborated with pop and R&B singer The Weeknd and rapper Playboi Carti on the single Popular, which marked her return to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart after a considerable hiatus.
