Furthermore, Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi disclosed that SAPS had “identified a few individuals” in connection with the case.
Discussions with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) are underway to bring these individuals in for questioning, potentially paving the way for further progress in the investigation.
This recent development comes after months of speculation and uncertainty surrounding the murder weapon.
In May 2023, rumours circulated about the possible discovery of a murder weapon.
Reports indicated that a firearm had been found in the possession of a man in his early twenties in Umlazi, south of Durban. Ballistic testing allegedly linked this weapon to the murders of AKA and Tibz.

AKA and Tibz were fatally shot on the evening of Friday, 10 February 2023, shortly after leaving Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Their shocking deaths sent shockwaves throughout the country and the music industry, leaving fans and the public demanding answers.
