On Wednesday, Eskom confirmed that loadshedding would remain suspended until further notice, extending the reprieve from rotational outages to over a week.
In a statement, the power utility cited the expected return of 2,365MW of generation capacity by Friday as one of the reasons behind the positive outlook.
“Eskom will provide an update for the week ahead on Sunday afternoon or communicate should any significant changes occur,” the utility noted.

Update on breakdowns and available capacity
The last state of the power system update was on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.
At the time, Eskom reported more than 28 477 MW of energy availability, with the average peak demand expected to average 27 613MW this weekend.
