Paul O’Sullivan lost his cool live on air during a Q&A with SABC News anchor Sakina Kamwendo.
Paul O’Sullivan loses it in interview with ‘SABC’ anchor Sakina
Monday’s fiery interview that will most probably be archived as one of the most epic moments of journalism ever captured on footage took place against the backdrop of murmurs circulating around the respected forensic investigator.
O’Sullivan turned up to the SABC News interview clearly unprepared for questioning around his links with President Cyril Ramaphosa and ‘Phala Phala Gate‘.
Take a look at how O’Sullivan reacted when seasoned anchor Kamwendo steered the conversation toward rumours around his involvement in concealing the infamous ‘Phala Phala’ burglary.
Some background on why O’Sullivan got heated live on air
As reported by IOL News, former corrections department head Arthur Fraser named O’Sullivan in a supplementary affidavit accompanying UDM leader Bantu Holomisa’s application for a Section 89 independent probe into Cyril Ramaphosa’s ‘Phala Phala’ burglary scandal.
According to the former spy boss, O’Sullivan allegedly used resources from his forensic investigation business to track down, kidnap and torture the suspects who had stolen millions in foreign currency from Ramaphosa’s farm.
In the supplementary affidavit submitted in June 2022, Fraser implicated O’Sullivan and Ramaphosa’s close advisor Bejani Chauke as frontmen who led the international manhunt.
More shocking, Fraser claimed the wads of cash that went missing at Phala Phala were allegedly smuggled from five countries by Chauke.
“The president, through Mr Chauke, had paid substantial amounts of money between February 2020 and July 2021 to trace persons alleged to have broken into his residence to recoup some of the stolen (dollars),” the affidavit read.
However, not only has O’Sullivan outrightly dismissed Fraser’s claims as falsehoods, but according to the forensic investigator, “at least 80% to 90% of what Fraser alleges is an intentional figment of his imagination, conceived after realising his days as a free man are numbered and that he needs to create something that can be used to cause a change of Presidency.”
