Queen Elizabeth II has been placed under medical supervision at the advice of her doctors, and concerns are growing on the state of her health.
Queen Elizabeth II dies: What’s the cause of death?
On Thursday, the Royal Family confirmed the decision to halt the Queen’s scheduled activities was taken “following further evaluation this morning (Thursday, 8 September 2022).”
“The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the statement read.
The Queen’s children, per BBC, are either at the Scottish estate or making their way to spend whatever time remains of her very long life.
The last public sighting of Queen Elizabeth II was on Tuesday at Balmoral, when she formally appointed Liz Truss as the UK’s next prime minister.
Truss, in reaction to news of the Queen’s deteriorating health, stated that the UK remains deeply concerned.
“My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time,” she said.
Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at Balmoral?
This is not the Queen’s first rodeo with speculation around the state of her health. Earlier this year, the rumour mill had gone into overdrive with claims that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away after contracting a severe case of COVID-19.
Of course, pictures released by the Royal Family in March 2022, weeks after the rumours circulated, all but confirmed claims of her death as fake news.
This time around, however, it seems things may be a lot more serious than before. One of the telltale signs of impending gut-wrenching news is all of her children making their way to be with the Queen at Balmoral.
From what we understand, Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, are already at the Scottish estate. The Duke of York and the Count and Countess of Wessex, as well as the Duke of Cambridge, had reportedly been on their way to Balmoral at the time this article was published.
One of the burning questions that lingers around the influx of the Queen’s children is whether Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry will show up at the Scottish estate.
According to the couple’s spokesperson, Markle, who recently came under fire for her comments about Nelson Mandela, and Prince Harry are, in fact, en route to Balmoral.
The UK remains deeply concerned with the ongoings taking shape at Balmoral. In reaction to the news of the Queen’s ill-health, Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said:
“My prayers, and the prayers of people across the [Church of England] and the nation, are with Her Majesty The Queen today. May God’s presence strengthen and comfort Her Majesty, her family, and those who are caring for her at Balmoral.”
The Queen was presumably alive at the time this article was published.
This is a developing story.
