Video footage emerged showing Shipman allegedly instigating the brawl, leading to severe backlash on social media. As a result, Shipman deleted his Facebook profile amid mounting criticism.
The Riverboat Parking Dispute
The incident reportedly began when a pontoon boat blocked the dock space reserved for the Harriott II Riverboat, leading to an argument between the parties involved. The disagreement escalated, resulting in physical altercations and racially charged confrontations.
Video footage of the incident has circulated on social media platforms, showing several white individuals fighting a single black man, who is identified as a dock worker. The video captures the intense altercation, with witnesses shouting and urging others to intervene.
Public opinion on social media swiftly turned against Shipman and his associates, with online users flooding Vasser’s Mini Mart Facebook page with negative reviews.
In response to the backlash, Shipman’s page was deactivated.
While the Montgomery Police Department has not released the names of the detained suspects, charges against those involved in the fight are pending. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
