Everspace 2 – Available on Console from 15 August 2023
In Everspace 2, we hop genres, taking space game fans into the realm of semi-open world RPGs where exploration, levelling up, crafting and managing equipment, buying new ships, and upgrading perks become nearly as important as a player’s piloting skill.
With this new focus on RPG mechanics comes a wide range of options for pilots as combinations of new gear, ships, and perks unlock all kinds of ways to create and accommodate different play styles.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Available on Console and PC from 18 August 2023
Team-based, three vs four gameplay and stealth as a primary defence mechanism for the victims was a great start to build off of, iterate upon, and uncover the core loops within The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The lopsided match structure, the power imbalance between The Family, complete with a chain saw wielding menace, and a cast of victims banded together in desperation to simply survive, this was what the game would ultimately be about.
The deck is seemingly stacked against you, yet you still fight, you still struggle to free yourself from The Family. These concepts didn’t simply check the box for something different, they shaped the game itself.
Sea of Stars – Available on Console from 29 August 2023
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Xbox Game Pass: Here’s how it works
The digital game market is flooded with new releases, and the top picks are usually pricier than the rest. To mitigate this and give gamers an equal playing field, irrespective of social or class status, Microsoft introduced a tiered subscription model where Xbox users could download free games or, better yet, get premium releases at discounted prices.
The are two tiers, Xbox Game Pass and Ultimate. The former grants gamers access to catalogues for use on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and mobile device. On the other hand, the Game Pass Ultimate tier unlocks Gold titles and comes along with an Xbox Live subscription.
Game Pass can be purchased in one of three ways:
- Console only: R99 per month
- PC only: R99 per month
- Ultimate: R149 per month
