The funeral of Zoleka Mandela took place on Friday at the Bryanston Methodist Church, and away from the sombre atmosphere, speculation was rife about a wishlist the acclaimed author allegedly wrote before ‘transitioning’.

Zoleka, the granddaughter of former president Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, succumbed to metastatic cancer on Monday, 25 September 2023, following an 11-year battle with two previous diagnoses.
According to reports, the social activist meticulously planned her farewell to such an extent that she allegedly drew a wishlist.
Not only did the leaked wishlist include names of persons not invited to escort Zoleka to her final resting place, but it also left hints about sexual abuse.
The wishlist, which you can view below, included several members of the Madikizela family, as well as the Mandelas.
Did Zoleka accuse Mandla Mandela, Buyelekhaya Dalinyebo of sexual abuse?
More prominently, Mandla Mandela, tribal chief of the Mvezo Traditional Council and grandson of Nelson Mandela, was included in the wishlist with a bullet point next to his and Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo’s names.
Below the list, Zoleka allegedly wrote she was “close to [including her] sisters, dad and stepmom,” for reasons she did not convey.
The last line contained the gob-smacker:
“FYI: These men “●” sexually abused me!”
While Zoleka Mandela never alluded to such during the span of her existence, nor was it explicitly stated in the wishlist and/or any of her existing writings, her referral to the bullet point, which is prefixed twice next to the names of two men, it can be reasonably assumed she was levelling serious accusations toward Mandla Mandela and Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo.
Coincidentally, Mandla Mandela was one of the mourners seen at Zoleka’s funeral on Friday.
Zoleka’s alleged wishlist also included Thiery Bashala, the father of her two children, and Leeroy Andie Cana, the father of her youngest child, Zingce.
She also noted the exclusion of several individuals from the Mandela and Madikizela families, including Zenani Mandela Snr, Zukiswa Madikizela, and among others, Nsundu Madikizela.
The authenticity of the alleged wishlist could not be verified at the time this article was published.
