Fans have raised concerns about the whereabouts and condition of Nadia Nakai, the girlfriend of rapper AKA who was viciously murdered in Durban on Friday night.
Where is Nadia Nakai? – AKA GF goes dark following his death
The Bragga rapper dropped off from social media shortly after it was confirmed that AKA, real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was gunned down outside a popular eatery on Florida Road in Durban, KZN, on Friday evening.
From what we know so far, Nakai was not with AKA at the time of his murder.
In fact, we managed to confirm that on Friday night, Nadia Nakai was booked to perform at Ayanda MVP’s birthday event at House of 8 in Sandton, Gauteng, alongside the likes of Lasizwe andAbidoza.
In this video, which was the last sighting of Nakai before she went dark, the Naaa Meaan star was seen hanging out with friends at the Sandton nightclub, seemingly unaware of the news that broke out about the death of AKA.

The last time Nakai and AKA were seen in public was on the rapper’s birthday, on Saturday, 28 January 2023.
As part of her tribute, Nakai penned a heartfelt birthday message on Instagram, where she declared her love for the Prada star.
News of AKA and Nadia Nakai’s relationship first surfaced in early 2022, close to a year after his ex, Anele Tembe allegedly took her own life at a Cape Town boutique hotel.
Speaking to SowetanLive about their romance at the time, Nakai revealed that “there wasn’t a specific time that we told ourselves we were an official couple because we were just really good friends.”
“I’ve known Kiernan for years. He was respectful every time I’d meet him. We never had personal issues and obviously, out of the respect for my label boss, I would refrain from socialising too much with him,” she said back then.
Nakai also toggled with the idea of having babies with AKA, a comment that sparked pregnancy rumours, which she was quick to quell.
Nakai has yet to surface on social media with a statement on the passing of her boyfriend.
AKA murder: What are the latest updates?
Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was with a group of friends, including music-exec-turned-chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, at a popular eatery in Morningside, Durban, when he was targeted in an assassination on Friday night.
According to KZN police, the rapper and another male were making their way out of Wish on Florida when two men opened fire on them, killing them instantly.
“What we have for now is that the musician and his security detail were having supper at a restaurant. So, as they were leaving for their vehicle, two unknown gunmen came across the street on foot and opened fire on them, killing them instantly,” Colonel Robert Netshiunda told reporters.
At the time this article was published, the suspects responsible for the murder of AKA and another male believed to be Tibz were presumably still at large and considered armed and dangerous.
AKA is survived by his seven-year-old daughter Kairo Forbes whom he shared with DJ Zinhle, his parents Lynn and Tony Forbes, and his girlfriend Nadia Nakai.
He was 35 years old.
