The upcoming season of Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Facebook exclusive Red Table Talk is, perhaps, the most anticipated since there is a growing belief that Will Smith will make an appearance to clear the air around the notorious Oscars slap.
Is Will Smith appearing on Red Table Talk?
The blackballing of Smith is in full effect. Since he casually walked on stage at the 2022 Oscars and delivered head-throbbing smack on Chris Rock’s face over a ‘G.I Jane’ joke he made in reference to Jada’s shaved head, things have taken a tumble for King Richard.
Not only has he since resigned from The Academy’s governor board, but after a careful review of the incident, the veteran actor has been banned from the ceremony for a gob-smacking 10 years.
The implications of this are grave for Smith’s legacy and career, of course. It would lend credence to rumours about his film deals with production houses, including Netflix, being paused indefinitely.
Not much else has been heard from Smith since he issued a public apology to Rock who, himself, has yet to address the Oscars slap in public.
However, speculation is rife that we will hear from Smith first and it will be on his family’s Red Table Talk. Season 4 of Pinkett-Smith’s talk show concluded in the latter parts of 2021, and while a follow-up season has not yet been rolled out, Jada did drive up the rumour mill with her Instagram post about ‘healing’.
Moreover, per Radar Online, sources close to the Smiths claim the actor has turned down offers from Good Morning America and The Today Show to open up about ‘SlapGate’. Instead, it’s believed, Smith will reportedly delve into his psyche at the time of the incident on Red Table Talk.
When will the new season premiere?
No information has been rolled out, as yet, about when the new season of Red Table Talk will premiere. From what we understand, the talk show usually kicks off its new season around Spring (Autumn in South Africa). Therefore, fans can expect to see the start of the rollout anytime from April 2022.
Red Table Talk airs on Wednesdays, exclusively on Facebook Watch.
