The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled the much-anticipated list of nominees for the 2022 Oscars, featuring prominent appearances from Hollywood powerhouses Will Smith, Denzel Washington, as well as Jonny Greenwood for his work on The Power of the Dog and Spencer.
Will Smith, Denzel Washington up for ‘Best Leading Actor’
On Tuesday, The Academy hosted the nominations show hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan, where Dune and Belfast surfaced as two main competitors with the most recognition.
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is up for an Oscar in at least eight contestable categories, the most noms received by a film at this year’s awards ceremony.
Will Smith also notched an Oscar nomination for his leading role on King Richard, and will be in the running against Denzel Washington who was recognised for his role on The Tragedy of MacBeth.
