Social media was abuzz with furore when images surfaced online showing the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) star accepting Ndlazi’s hand in marriage.
Details on the engagement are scarce and while Williams has yet to publicly react to the next phase of her relationship, onlookers who snapped the moment all but confirmed that the reality TV star is officially off the market.
Here’s what we know about Ndlazi’s checkered past
The first time fans heard of Ndlazi’s acquaintance with Nonku was at the start of RHOD Season 3, which premiered in February 2023. In the second episode, the mom-of-three appeared smitten by her man, whom she referred to as ‘RD’ or ‘Rough Diamond’.
Soon after they went public about their relationship, fans of Williams dug up Ndlazi’s past as a convicted rapist but this did not dissuade the reality star since, in an interview with Zimoja, she made it categorically clear she was sticking beside her man.
“There is nothing I don’t know about my man,” she said at the time.
In March 2016, Dumisani Ndlazi was sentenced to 10 years in prison “for raping a 20-year-old victim.”
In a statement released at the time, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane revealed that Ndlazi used his position as a community leader in Richards Bay to coerce the woman, who had moved from Gauteng to KZN in pursuit of education, into a non-consensual sexual relationship.
“A case of rape was opened at Richards Bay police station and the case was transferred to Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigation. On the same day of the incident, the accused was arrested and charged with rape. He appeared in court on several occasions until he was convicted and sentenced to a total of 10 years imprisonment yesterday (8 March 2016),” Major Zwane revealed at the time.
