Nestlé, the renowned multinational food and beverage company, discontinued the popular flavoured milk drink, Nesquik, in South Africa.
Nesquik flavours you will no longer find in South Africa
The move came as Nestlé experienced a decline in sales and a decrease in demand for the product, prompting the company to reevaluate its offerings in the cocoa malt beverages category.
The discontinuation of Nesquik was a strategic shift by Nestlé, aimed at adapting to changing consumer preferences and market dynamics.
Takudzwa Mupfurutsa, Business Executive Officer of Dairy for Nestlé East and Southern Africa, stated,
“We remain committed to bringing innovation to the cocoa malt beverages category, and we are eager to improve and introduce new products that will be hitting the shelves soon.”
Effective from 21 August 2023, Nestlé ceased the production of various Nesquik variants, including:
- Nestlé Nesquik strawberry 500g;
- Nestlé Nesquik strawberry 250g
- Nestlé Nesquik chocolate 500g; and
- Nestlé Nesquik chocolate 250g.
Mupfurutsa emphasised that Nestlé’s commitment to the South African market remains unwavering.
Brands like Milo, Nestlé Hot Chocolate, and Nestlé Cocoa are highly favoured by consumers in the country and will continue to be available.
As the iconic Nesquik bids farewell to South African shelves, Nestlé expressed its gratitude to consumers for their steadfast support throughout the years.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our consumers for their unwavering support throughout the years,” Mupfurutsa wrote.
