The gob-smacking news of Gangsta Boo’s death was first announced on New Year’s Day by Fox 13 Memphis. According to the Southern media outlet, the 43-year-old was found dead on her porch at approximately 17:00 EST (around 00:00 CAT).
Three independent sources revealed the shocking news to the cited publication before it was confirmed by Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul on Instagram.

Gangsta Boo biography
Lola Mitchell, otherwise revered as Gangsta Boo from the legendary Memphis rap group Three 6 Mafia, was born on 7 August 1979.
Growing up, Mitchell’s childhood was humbled by her exposure to the duality of life in the middle class and the hood. The latter came after she was and her family were forced to move to the grittier parts of Memphis after her parents divorced.
This seismic change in her childhood, however traumatic it may have been, was the catalyst to her pioneering rap career.
The earliest record of Gangsta Boo can be traced back to 1993 when she was only 14 years old.
In fact, after joining Three 6 Mafia, Gangsta Boo released her debut solo album Enquiring Minds in 1998 when she was 18. The 21-track album, executive produced by DJ Paul, peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and landed on the 46th spot on the Top 200 Albums chart.
Much of the album’s success was carried by Gangsta Boo’s first certified solo hit single Where Dem Dollas At?
Her sophomore offering Both Worlds *69 followed in 2001 with street sweepers such as Hard Not 2 Kill featuring DJ Paul and Good & Hi guest-starring Juicy J.
Two years later, Gangsta Boo followed up with the sequel to her debut, Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera which also charted on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.
