Khloe Kardashian opens about about surrogacy and her son
In a recent episode of Hulu’s popular series, The Kardashians, Khloe revealed her deeply personal journey as a mother of two. The reality TV star, who had previously kept her son’s name a secret, finally shared that his name is Tatum.
Khloe Kardashian and her ex-boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, welcomed Tatum in August 2022 through the help of a surrogate. During a heartfelt conversation with Scott Disick, Kardashian spoke candidly about the challenges she has faced in forming a bond with her youngest child and the feelings of guilt that have accompanied her decision to pursue surrogacy.
Opening up about the surrogate process, Khloe expressed her struggles, referring to it as a “mindf**k” and emphasising the difficulty she has experienced in feeling a strong connection with her son.
She acknowledged that while it may take time for some parents to establish that bond, her experience has been particularly challenging, contrasting with her sister Kim Kardashian‘s more seamless journey.
Reflecting on her son’s birth, Khloe revealed that she hadn’t fully grasped the magnitude of the situation during her pregnancy, leading to a sense of shock when she arrived at the hospital.
She described the experience as transactional, expressing her guilt over the separation between herself and the surrogate after the birth.
In discussing the topic of surrogacy, the Kardashian sister emphasised the importance of honesty and open conversations, expressing a wish for a more transparent understanding of the process.
She recognised that surrogacy is neither inherently good nor bad but acknowledged its significant differences compared to carrying a child oneself.
Kim, Khloe’s older sister, also shared her insights, drawing from her own experiences with surrogacy. She acknowledged that carrying a baby in one’s own body creates a unique connection that cannot be replicated in surrogacy arrangements.
