After a discussion with popular hip hop interviewer DJ Vlad, Kanye West’s longtime collaborator Cyhi the Prynce confirmed that West’s long awaited Donda album is finally on its way.
Why was ‘DONDA’ delayed for so long?
In the interview clip between Vlad and Cyhi, the Atlanta rapper touched on working on his own album, his future plans on working with Travis Scott on the Houston rappers next project and he also confirmed his contribution towards Ye’s Jesus is King album.
However the main topic was Cyhi’s confirmation that Kanye West’s long awaited DONDA album, initially scheduled to release on the 24th of July 2020, was in progress and underway to release in the near future.
“I think he started working on it late last year so I think once November, December, January comes around he kind of takes a hiatus, vacation, break to get with the family so we’re back working” said Cyhi the Prince.
With the Chicago rapper going through his eventual divorce with Kim Kardashian, lets not forget he also contracted the Covid-19 virus and his ongoing investigation from the FEC for violating fundraising practices during his 2020 election run.
DONDA: What to expect?
The album, named after his deceased mother, is expected to be Ye’s next masterpiece and many have high expectations after the lack luster reception received from his past two projects Jesus is King (2019) and Ye (2018).
GOOD Music rapper Pusha T stated in March of 2020 that he had been recording with West however nothing more has come out on that. What we do know is the two released songs titled Wash Us In The Blood and Nah Nah Nah which released In 2020 were expected to be part of the DONDA album with Nah Nah Nah having DaBaby and 2Chainz hopping on the remix.
0n the 27th of June 2020, a viral clip from hip hop legend Snoop Dogg showcased West and legendary hip hop producer Dr. Dre cooking something up in the studio so a collaboration from the two is also expected to feature on the album.
After multiple delays from the initial release date for DONDA, will it live up to the heights of Ye’s Yeezus and The Life of Pablo? Or will the majority of fans be left disappointed again?
