Cardi B was embroiled in yet another Twitter spat, this time taking shots at City Girls’ JT.
Why are Cardi B and JT beefing?
Social media was abuzz in the wee hours of Tuesday, with two top-selling female artists caught in a keyboard cat fight.
Fresh from humiliating Akbar V with revenge porn, Cardi B had her eyes set on the city girl from Miami.
It remains unknown what was said in private messages exchanged between the two, but per Complex, we have every reason to believe this Twitter spat was instigated by fans.
JT has recently surfaced as a huge admirer of Nicki Minaj.
The Act Up rapper appeared next to Nicki on Queen Mix, and it seems Cardi B fans drew a line in the sand between them and JT for fraternising with an ‘opp’.
So, when JT replied to a fan poking fun at her, Akbar V, BIA and Katie Bandz for supposedly d***riding their way to a Top 10 hit, referencing their inclusion on Queen Mix, it presented the perfect opportunity for instigators to fan the flames between the city girl and Cardi B.
How did this happen? Well, fans blasted JT for only recognising Glorilla in her response to Chart Data‘s tweet announcing Tomorrow 2‘s No.9 entry in the Billboard Hot 100.
Instigators claimed JT blatantly left out Cardi B in the tweet as a show of allegiance to Nicki Minaj, but the Miami rapper vehemently denied this.
“NAH actually the tweet was too long! PLUS Cardi Been having top 10’s I been congratulating her for years this is GLO first one, I’ve been ignoring y’all but y’all are hella annoying, move round and get off my D*** thank YOU!” she responded.
All the while, Cardi was dropping subs on her timeline, and things took an awry turn when she tweeted ‘lapdog’, seemingly shading JT for being controlled by Nicki Minaj.
The Miami rapper did not take the sub lying down and retorted by calling Cardi a “wiener dog” which, of course, is another term for a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed, or simply, a dachshund.
From there, things disintegrated into a full-fledged Twitter spat, with both sides throwing shots at the other’s writing credibility. Cardi B fans dug up old videos of JT praising Cardi B’s blueprint, and the Miami rapper surfaced with her own ‘tea’ regarding the Hot Sh*t rapper’s history with ghostwriters.
At some point, Nicki Minaj, watching with glee on the sidelines, also chimed in from a distance and changed her Twitter avatar to a picture of JT. The other city girl, Yung Miami, also reacted to the spat with a couple of tweets.
It’s pretty clear, at this juncture, that lines have been drawn in female Hip-Hop between those who side with Cardi B and the Nicki Minaj brigade.
