Dreamville songstress Ari Lennox may have plundered any possibility of a warm reception if, and only if, she ever performs for a South African audience.
Ari Lennox gets backlash for ‘Smegma’ comment
It wasn’t so long ago when the Shea Butter star faced off with Mzansi netizens on social media over her botched interview with South African podcaster Mac G.
A question that was not meant to be part of the interview was lodged by the polarising podder and opinion was left divided on whether Lennox was justified in her reaction.
She was left uncomfortable and her reflection on the moment was met with resistance from popular Twitter accounts, including the social media star ‘Mr Smeg’.
It seems, Lennox may have moved on from the online feud but she never forgot. Things went awry for Smeg when his compliment to Lennox was not reciprocated. Instead, the songstress cussed Michael Bucwa as a ‘smegma’, a thick, white, cheesy substance that collects under the foreskin of a man’s private part.
“Your entire existence is nauseating,” the songstress wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
The comment drew ire from South Africans, including rapper AKA who made it clear he was “an official Ari Lennox hater.”
“I can’t help but think Ari Lennox feels like she is above us or something. I can vividly imagine her oozing arrogance when she tweets at South Africans,” the rapper wrote in a tweet.
Here are more reactions from ‘southies’ who did not take kindly to Lennox’ tweet.
