While it secured the number one position, the film’s opening earnings were slightly below the recent trend of DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films, per Box Office Pro.

Blue Beetle marked a triumphant entrance to the box office, earning $25.4 million in its opening weekend.
However, when compared to other recent DCEU films, the film’s debut falls short:
- It opened 15% lower than Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, which earned $30.1 million in March 2023.
- It lagged 23% behind Birds of Prey from February 2020, which made $33.0 million.
- Despite its R-rating and simultaneous release in theatres and on streaming, it still opened 3% below The Suicide Squad, which earned $26.2 million in 2021.
