As karma would have it, things came full-circle for Ntsiki Mazwai after an archived clip of Comedy Central’s Roast of Somizi surfaced online, showing how Nomzamo Mbatha and other guests piled the brutal jokes on her.
An old clip resurfaced and got Ntsiki Mazwai in her feelings
Celebrity roasts are a new form of entertainment in South Africa and Somizi Mhlongo got his turn on the oven in 2018. Part of the panel was controversial singer Ntsiki Mazwai, who has garnered a reputation as a troll on social media.
Her antics sure do precede her vocal talents which stem from a bloodline of greats. Alas, the rules of the roast are simple: panellists take the stage and dish out the jokes to Somizi but nobody is immune from the smoke.
Celebrities do their rounds, handing down disses to their fellow colleagues before laying the roast on Somizi. For some reason, a fan who was watching the show’s re-run on Showmax isolated a clip of Mbatha grilling Mazwai and posted it on Twitter with the caption:
‘Somizi tried to kill my brand’
Soon afterwards, the clip spread faster than wildfire on social media, with people divided in opinion about just how far the line was crossed in the disses Mbatha dished out.
The news found its way to Mazwai and the singer pinned looked past Mbatha and others and pinned it all on Somizi. Mazwai insists that the jokes on her were way too egregious to have been a coincidence.
She claimed that Somizi had strategically invited her to join the panel because he allegedly knew that she was going to face the butt of the jokes, an attempt to assassinate her brand.
Somizi, too oblivious to give any of this his attention, has opted to post a picture of his belly reveal with the caption, “full tank, I am. Happy chooseday.”
