The woes seem to be mounting for reality TV star Faith Nketsi, as she reportedly faces legal action from Standard Bank over an alleged outstanding credit card debt amounting to over R200,000.
Faith Nketsi R263,763 credit card debt lands her in legal trouble
As reported by City Press, the bank took a step forward by lodging a notice of mediation at the Johannesburg High Court in late September 2023, endeavouring to get Nketsi to settle an amount pegged at R263,793 for a credit card she acquired over a decade ago.
As per the documents filed in court, the bank has been dispatching account statements to Nketsi on a monthly basis to keep her informed about the outstanding amounts owed to the bank.
This legal tangle comes at a time when Nketsi is already under the spotlight, having recently announced on her show, Have Faith, that she is on the road to divorce.
Back in May 2023, Nzuzo Njilo, Nketsi’s high-flying husband, found himself in hot water when police tagged him as a wanted individual over social media, accusing him of swindling a buyer in a truck sale.
Njilo, alongside Ntshangase, later turned themselves into the authorities, facing a bail amount of R30,000 and R3,000 respectively.
The duo is accused of swindling a woman by selling her a truck in 2021 but failing to deliver on the deal. They now each face a fraud charge tied to this questionable transaction.
The unfolding drama kept viewers riveted to their screens, as Njilo’s estranged spouse and TV personality confirmed the rumblings of marital discord, despite the couple having celebrated their traditional wedding barely a year ago.
Nketsi shared that the marital challenges have been so severe that staying in the marriage would have landed her in a mental health facility, a revelation made notwithstanding the fact that the couple shares a child.
Njilo, together with his co-accused Ntshangase, is scheduled to appear before the Port Shepstone magistrate’s court to commence trial in a fraud case amounting to half a million rands.
Attempts to obtain a response from Nketsi regarding the allegations proved futile as there was no reply to the queries before the publishing of this article.
