The Department of Energy confirmed changes in petrol prices effective from Wednesday, 5 April 2023, which, in turn, will impact the fuel costs of filling up luxury cars such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Confirmed: April 2023 petrol price changes
This week, 93 Unleaded will drop by a cent, while its counterpart, 95 Unleaded, will cost two cents less. Diesel drivers, on the other hand, will enjoy the biggest reprieve with 73c and 74c slashed from 0.05% and 0.005% prices, respectively.
In a statement, Energy Department spokesperson Robert Maake explained a weakened rand against the dollar, coupled with negative movements in crude oil markets, had a direct impact on petrol prices for April 2023.
Moreover, the Energy Department implement a 4.2c p/l increase in the slate levy from Wednesday, 1 March 2023. This comes after “the combined cumulative petrol and diesel Slate balances at the end of January 2023 amounted to a negative balance of R2.71 billion.”
Here is a look at the estimated petrol price changes expected on Wednesday, 5 April 2023.
