Grammy-winning singer Lizzo is at the centre of a legal battle as three former dancers file a civil lawsuit against her and her production company.
Lizzo lawsuit: Accusations of Sexual Harassment and Body Shaming
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment during their time working with the artist.
The plaintiffs, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, have made serious allegations against Lizzo and her team.
They claim that during a club visit in Amsterdam’s Red Light District after a concert, Lizzo pressured the dancers to engage with nude performers.
Lizzo allegedly led a chant, pressuring one of the dancers, Arianna Davis, to touch the breasts of one of the nude women performing at the club.
Hostile Work Environment and Weight Shaming
In addition to the sexual harassment claims, the lawsuit accuses Lizzo of creating a hostile work environment.
Despite Lizzo’s reputation for promoting body positivity, she is accused of body shaming Davis, making negative comments about her weight gain, and questioning her commitment to her role as a dancer.
The complaint states that Davis was subsequently fired in May 2023 after recording a meeting where Lizzo gave notes to the dancers regarding their performances.
Religious Harassment Allegations Against Co-Defendant
Beyond Lizzo, co-defendant and choreographer, Quinn Wilson, also known as “Quigley,” is accused of religious harassment. The court filing claims that Quigley imposed her Christian beliefs on the dancers and referred to Davis as a “non-believer.”
She allegedly made statements indicating her intent to continue discussing religious topics despite any objections from others.
As of now, Lizzo and her representatives have not responded to the lawsuit publicly.
