The 2023 Emmy Awards celebrated the finest in television, with The Bear, Succession, and Beef snagging major accolades.
2023 Emmys: The night’s biggest winners
Hosted with flair and panache, the ceremony was a night to remember for the television industry.
In the comedy category, The Bear clawed its way to the top, with Jeremy Allen White winning Best Lead Actor. His co-star, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, took home the Best Supporting Actor trophy, while Ayo Edebiri was honoured as the Best Supporting Actress.
The show also won Best Directing and Best Writing, both credited to Christopher Storer.
Succession continued its winning streak in the drama series category.
The HBO powerhouse won Best Drama Series, with Kieran Culkin grabbing Best Lead Actor and Sarah Snook being named Best Lead Actress.
Matthew Macfadyen secured the Best Supporting Actor award, contributing to the show’s impressive haul.
Beef, the anthology series, left a strong impression, earning the Best Limited or Anthology Series award. Stars Ali Wong and Steven Yeun received accolades for Best Actress and Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, respectively.
The show also triumphed in the writing and directing categories, thanks to Lee Sung Jin’s exceptional work.
Jennifer Coolidge, celebrated for her role in The White Lotus, was awarded Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while Niecy Nash-Betts won the equivalent award in a limited series for her performance in Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
The comedy series Abbott Elementary saw Quinta Brunson emerge as the Best Lead Actress, while the drama series Succession continued its dominance with Jesse Armstrong winning Best Writing.
In the realm of variety, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah bagged the award for Best Variety Talk Series, with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver winning for Best Writing in a Variety Series. RuPaul’s Drag Race raced ahead to win the Reality Competition Program category.
