After a week marred by confusion and organisational mishaps, the Burna Boy South Africa concert has officially been cancelled.
Why was the Burna Boy SA concert cancelled?
This decision follows a series of developments that have unfolded since the event’s initial postponement.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, 23 September 2023, at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, the concert had been postponed to 16 December 2023, leaving fans in a state of uncertainty.
The concert’s promoter, Ternary Media Group, has been embroiled in a slew of controversies during this period.
Sedote Nwachukwu, the CEO of Ternary Media Group and the individual responsible for organising the Burna Boy concert, was recently terminated from his position and subsequently charged with fraud linked to the disappearance of R10 million, per Sowetan.
The alleged theft of these funds played a pivotal role in the decision to cancel the event.
When questioned about whether low ticket sales had contributed to the cancellation, Kymoni Jackson, a spokesperson for Ternary Media Group, clarified that the primary reason for calling off the concert was the alleged R10 million theft by Nwachukwu.
Jackson explained that Nwachukwu had deceived both event participants and his investor, Gregory Wings.
Burna Boy himself has not yet issued a statement addressing the controversies surrounding his South Africa concert.
