Who is Bryoni Govender?
Bryoni Natalie Govender, the first runner-up in Miss South Africa 2023, was crowned Miss Universe South Africa earlier this year.
She now stands on the cusp of joining the ranks of previous South African winners like Margaret Gardiner, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, and Zozibini Tunzi.
Making history, Govender is the first woman of Indian heritage to represent South Africa at Miss Universe since Kerishnie Naiker in 1997. Her participation symbolises not only her personal achievements but also the diverse beauty of South Africa.
Born to parents of Indian descent in Kempton Park, Gauteng, Govender is a qualified lawyer and aspiring attorney.
She cites Aishwarya Rai, Miss World 1994, as her role model. Beyond her professional life, Govender is currently dating former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic.
