The Bad Boyz Security control room caught footage of a suspicious encounter involving two groups of unknown men that culminated in a stabbing.
According to sources, security cameras caught the moment three men were accosted by four assailants.
During the encounter, which you can watch below, one of the attacked individuals retaliated, stabbing two of the attackers.
The aftermath saw one suspect fleeing the scene, while the injured suspect was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The individual who defended himself departed the scene by foot, heading along Kotze Street towards Edith Cavel Street.
Penalties you can face for self-defence in South Africa
South African law permits the use of force, including deadly force, under certain conditions for self-defence, to protect life, property, and other rights.
The law stipulates that for an act to be considered self-defence, the attack must be unlawful, such as a home invasion.
The defensive act must occur during the attack, must be directed at the attacker, and must be proportionate to the attack received.
Actions deemed excessive or unrelated to the immediate threat may not qualify as self-defence under legal scrutiny.
At this time, the person responsible for the death of the alleged robber, and the stabbing of the surviving assailant is presumably still at large, and police have yet to issue a directive on his status in the case.
Footage of the incident has since surfaced on social media.
