The identity of the man accused of the Langenhoven Street double murder was unveiled at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, following a brief appearance on Thursday.
Who is the suspect in the Langenhoven Street double murder?
The 37-year-old gardener, a Zimbabwean national named Pardon Danhire, pensively stood before the magistrate for the first time since he was arrested on Monday evening.
After state prosecutors formally registered two counts of murder on the court’s roll, Danhire bizarrely informed the magistrate of his decision to abandon his right to bail.
Therefore, the gardener accused of killing 34-year-old Nadine Terblanche and her nine-year-old son, Ruandré Vorster, will remain in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for 3 January 2024.
It’s been three days since the gruesome Langenhoven Street double murder, and Alberton police are still mum about the evidence they have against Danhire.
A source close to the situation reliably informed Swisher Post that, contrary to speculation around possible wage disgruntlement being a motive for the double murder, the gardener was a longtime servant of the property Terblanche shared with her partner, Freddie Stapelberg.
“I know for a fact that’s not true. They had no problem with money. They had no problem with paying their people. They never had a problem with any of that. Like I said, I know that this guy (the gardener) has been with them for years.
“He’s seen the kids grow up in front of him. So, it’s not that they didn’t pay him. If it was him, there must’ve been another reason, but financial, definitely not,” the source said.
What was the motive for Nadine Terblanche’s murder?
As Alberton police work tirelessly to piece together the moments leading up to the tragic Langenhoven Street double murder, Stapelberg has been talking to the media about his last encounter with Nadine and her son.
According to the fiancé, he last spoke to Terblanche on that fateful afternoon. From what we understand, Nadine and her son were preparing for the nine-year-old’s prize-givinig ceremony taking place at Laerskool Randhart Amptelik later that evening.
When Stapelberg arrived home from work, he allegedly discovered the axe-wielding gardener inside the house right after he had strangled Nadine and Ruandré to death.
A brief scuffle allegedly ensued and, somehow, Stapelberg managed to subdue Danhire and call for help. The Zimbabwean national was taken into custody that evening.
The motive behind the Langenhoven Street double murder is still a head-scratcher.
