The duo faces attempted murder charges for allegedly assaulting and unleashing dogs on a farm security officer, a saga that has sparked significant attention and controversy.
The postponement was decided to allow further deliberations on the matter, with the next court appearance slated for Wednesday, 7 February 2024.
Ministers Bheki Cele and Ronald Lamola attended court proceedings, and have both emphasised the importance of upholding the law, regardless of the individuals involved.
“Anyone who broke the country’s laws would face consequences,” they asserted.
The case’s postponement has heightened tensions in Groblersdal, a town already on edge due to the proceedings.
Police have been tasked with maintaining peace and order as groups with opposing views converge on the courthouse.
The EFF and ANC supporters have voiced their demand for justice and called for the suspects to be denied bail.
Meanwhile, the defence has scrutinised the investigation, questioning the evidence and threats to the accused’s safety.
