Durban mass shooting leaves one dead: Here’s what happened
According to police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the shooting took place as four foreign women and a male friend, all of Asian descent, were preparing to leave for a nearby shopping centre.
As they were getting into their vehicle, another man, reportedly of the same nationality, emerged from the house and opened fire.
The assailant’s attack was sudden and targeted, leaving one woman dead at the scene and the others critically injured. The male companion, however, managed to escape without harm.
Who is the suspect?
The police are currently searching for the shooter, who is described as a man of Asian descent.
His identity has not yet been disclosed to the public as investigations are ongoing.
Authorities are combing through evidence and gathering witness statements to track down the suspect as quickly as possible.
Among the victims, the woman who died suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.
The three other women were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
What is known about the motive?
Investigators are diligently working to uncover the motive behind the shooting. It is unclear what prompted the violence, and whether there were any prior conflicts among the individuals involved.
“Investigations are underway to establish the motive of the shooting as well as the relations between the suspect and the victims,” Netshiunda said.
