Bosmansdam Road murder: Motorist targeted in suspected assassination
In a statement to Swisher Post, police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident took place on Thursday, 26 October 2023, at approximately 19:50.
According to Sgt Twigg, Milnerton police responded to reports of a shooting on Bosmansdam Road. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered the victim in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.
Paramedics declared the man deceased at the scene.
This incident adds to a growing list of violent crimes on Bosmansdam Road, fuelling concerns about safety. The suspect, who is still at large, fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police have yet to make an arrest related to this case.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was alone in his vehicle at the time of the incident. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, treating the case as a suspected assassination. Forensic teams have gathered evidence, and police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.
Though the motive behind the killing is unclear, the manner of the shooting indicates a targeted attack. Bosmansdam Road witnessed a similar incident earlier in October 2023, where a foreign national, Shaufik Nassar, was viciously gunned down by a motorbiker.
Despite efforts to flee the attack, Nassar’s vehicle veered into oncoming traffic post the assault. The medical personnel who arrived at the scene declared Nassar deceased.
It’s unclear at this time if the two incidents are related in any way.
