Leondale High School is the latest Gauteng education institution to be meddled in controversy over viral videos showing wild levels of misconduct.
Gauteng school kids go viral for smoking cannabis
The clip showing a large group of pupils in school uniform running a cannabis steam engine, and clearly in no condition to return to class and absorb information, almost dwarfs the Hoerskool Jan Die Klerk classroom brawl that went viral earlier this week.
Former Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane caught wind of the video clip which, if we had to guess, was most likely filmed on ‘Happy 420‘ Day, and called for Education Minister Angie Motshekga’s resignation.
While this may have been a reach, if we are only taking this viral clip into consideration, his condemnation may have alerted Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi who wasted no time in dealing with the delinquent pupils.
Here is the viral video clip:

Leondale High School ‘potheads’ suspended – Lesufi
On Friday, Lesufi paid Leondale High School a visit and, following engagements with management, confirmed at least 36 pupils caught on camera smoking pot “have been removed and suspended from the school.”
“Their disciplinary hearing will be held on Monday,” the Gauteng Education MEC wrote in a tweet.
