Prince Andrew heckled during royal procession: Here’s what we know
As reported by The Guardian, the man was arrested in Edinburgh on Monday, 12 September 2022.
This comes after he allegedly hurled derogatory slurs at Prince Andrew while the Queen’s coffin procession moved along the Royal Mile.
The suspect has since been charged with breach of peace.
The incident happened while King Charles III led senior members of the Royal Family to St Giles’ Cathedral. The Royal family followed behind a hearse carrying Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin.
In a clip that surfaced on social media, the heckler was heard shouting while crowds sang God Save The King.
He allegedly yelled, “Andrew, you’re a sick old man”, as the Duke of York passed behind his mother’s hearse. Police quickly dealt with him and dragged him away from the crowd as the procession continued.

The Queen’s coffin was taken from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the St. Giles’ Cathedral during the procession.
The King led the Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Princess Royal, and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, on foot. The Queen Consort and the Countess of Wessex followed in cars.
The Queen’s children and a congregation drawn from all areas of Scottish society then attended a Thanksgiving service for her life.
Her coffin has been lying in rest at the cathedral since Monday afternoon. On Tuesday evening, Her Majesty’s coffin will leave for London.
