Virgin Atlantic seasonal Cape Town, London flights return
Virgin Atlantic’s launch of its seasonal service has significantly increased the capacity for passengers and cargo between Cape Town and London.
With the service commencing on Saturday, 28 October 2023, it is set to run until the end of March 2024.
This strategic move not only caters to the growing demand for travel between the two cities but also fortifies economic ties by boosting cargo capacity.
Marc Harding, the Country Manager for South Africa at Virgin Atlantic, expressed enthusiasm about the resumption of this popular route.
“The 2023/2024 season marks the return of our cherished service connecting Cape Town to London,” he stated, highlighting the value this route holds for both tourists and business travellers.
The daily flights, operated under flight numbers VS 479 from Cape Town to London and VS 478 from London to Cape Town, have introduced over 80,000 seats for this route.
Travelers have the privilege of flying on the Boeing 787-9, Virgin Atlantic’s flagship of fuel efficiency.
The aircraft offers a range of travel classes including Upper Class, Premium, and three Economy options: Light, Classic, and Delight.
Moreover, the in-flight WiFi service ensures that passengers can stay connected, even at 35,000 feet.
Harding also noted the broader implications of this service.
“It’s more than just a travel route; it’s a bridge for business and leisure, providing seamless connections to Europe and North America via Heathrow.”
The additional cargo capacity is poised to transport essential goods, fostering trade relations between South Africa, the UK, and other global markets.
The service operates throughout the week, with an approximate flight duration of 11 hours.
