Somizi Mhlongo premiered his brand new reality TV show on Showmax and fans were not expecting the veteran choreographer to delve right into his messy split with soon-to-be ex-husband Mohale Motaung.
Somizi talks Mohale in new Showmax reality TV series
It’s no secret the couple’s short-lived marriage was nothing short of a catastrophe. What was once touted as one of the most glamorous weddings seen on South African television quickly turned into a shambolic (beep) show, with allegations of physical assault and sexual abuse flung at the media mogul.
Even the impending divorce has been a rocky affair. Well, at least at the start, anyway.
In March 2022, reports surfaced of a feud between the two ex-lovers, involving the division of assets in their unbundling which, reports suggest, may be complicated by the fact that no papers were ever signed, at any point during the traditional and subsequent white wedding.
In fact, in the first episode of his reality TV show, Mhlongo learns of the implications involved in his customary marriage if, for instance, Motaung is able to prove that lobola was paid.
No concrete details have emerged from Motaung’s camp on what exactly he is bidding for, some claim the wardrobe and cars are included in the list of items he reportedly wants to walk away with, but Mhlongo makes it irrevocably clear that he has no intentions of sharing a dime with his soon-to-be ex-hubby.
On season 5 of Living The Dream With Somizi, fans get the unfiltered side of Mhlongo’s story. The first episode, which premiered on the DStv-owned streaming service on 4 May 2022, sees Mhlongo reflecting on his failed marriage.
In conversation with Vusi Nova, Mhlongo rubbishes allegations made by Motaung on an audio recording that leaked in August 2021. He scoffs the claims as a messy money-grab Motaung apparently lunged for, tarnishing his reputation in the process.
Mhlongo was also candid in his response to allegations of sexual abuse, making it clear that he had not pitched threesomes to his ex, but rather a ‘versatile’ relationship as a way to bring ‘excitement’ to their sex life.
The first episode includes appearances from veteran actress Palesa Madisakwane, the daughter they share Bahumi, and longtime friend Lorcia Cooper Khumalo.
