The Loliwe songstress is a step closer to marriage after Xaba took the knee and proposed during a surprise engagement party on Friday, 10 March 2023.
According to the singer’s assistant, only known to the public as ‘Lisa’, Zahara had no clue about the engagement.
Lisa revealed that Xaba, a self-sufficient engineer, went the whole nine yards and picked out a modestly customised diamond ring, which, according to the assistant, cost R10 000,
To lure Zahara away from her home, which hosted the surprise engagement, Lisa had to “pretend that she was attending a podcast.”
The staged podcast interview went on as planned, while preparations for the engagement proposal were finalised back home.
“Lisa told me I needed to hurry home for an emergency. When I arrived in the lounge, I saw these big balloons written ‘Marry me.’ I said yes. I love him. He is supportive, kind, and generous,” Zahara recalled.
In the video, which you can see below, Zahara thought long and hard before she sent the room into pandemonium with a ‘yes’ in response to Xaba’s proposal.
Before Friday’s epic proposal, the couple had enjoyed a great deal of privacy.
For the most part, their relationship had been kept out of the public domain.
In an interview with Zimoja, Xaba revealed that he and Zahara had been dating for six months before he popped the question.
“I came to her house for a family gathering and fell in love immediately. I was a little bit intimidated because I knew who she was. I won’t act as If I don’t know who she was, but I knew for me to approach her. I needed to be sure about my intentions. I love her because she accepts me for who I am without judgement,” Xaba said.
