KZN most-wanted bank robbery suspects killed in police shootout
In a dramatic confrontation on Friday, KZN police engaged and fatally shot two men accused of multiple bank robberies across the region.
The suspects, who were travelling in a stolen white Mercedes Benz, were recognised by a patrol unit, which initiated a pursuit.
The chase came to a crashing halt when the suspects lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road.
After the crash, the suspects fled on foot into nearby bushland, attempting to evade capture.
Police officers pursued the suspects into the undergrowth, where a fierce shootout ensued.
During the exchange of gunfire, both suspects were fatally injured.
Authorities have confirmed that the deceased were indeed the individuals listed among the province’s most-wanted for a series of sophisticated bank heists.
No police officers were injured during the encounter.
This is a developing story.
