President Cyril Ramaphosa, after intense consultation with the national command council, has come forth to address the nation about how government is fighting the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Presidency announced on Monday that Ramaphosa will address the nation in the evening. The time of this address has not been confirmed. The video feed will start playing as soon as SABC News goes live.
Coronavirus latest updates in SA
As of Monday 23 March, South Africa has recorded 402 cases of coronavirus, 128 more than Sunday’s tally, according to the health department.
Currently, Gauteng and the Western Cape are the two provinces with the highest infection rate, accountable for 76.3% of the country’s total cases.
It has been tipped that Ramaphosa will implement a nationwide lockdown as a measure to enforce social distancing. The merits of this lockdown have yet to be revealed.
