Canadian rapper Tory Lanez was cuffed and whisked away by Los Angeles Superior Court deputy sheriffs after a jury found him guilty of not only assaulting Megan Thee Stallion with a firearm, but also illegally discharging and concealing a loaded weapon.
Tory Lanez found guilty of all three counts
The long and exhaustive mystery of the events that transpired in Hollywood Hills on that eventful July 2020 early morning was finally unravelled at 15:15 PST (01:15 CAT) when jurors, after more than a day of deliberations, returned with a verdict.
In the end, the jury determined that Lanez, who was inside his vehicle with Megan, her former best friend Kelsey Nicole Harris and his security on the night of the shooting, was the gun wielder.
The Canadian rapper was also found guilty of negligent discharge of a firearm and concealing an unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Law and Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff, whose coverage of the trial must be applauded, was inside the courtroom when all hell broke loose following the verdict announcement.
According to Cuniff, the Say It rapper’s parents led a raucous boycott when LA sheriff deputies cuffed him on the spot. Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, disrupted court proceedings, hurling “this is a wicked system”.
Bizarrely, Roc Nation founder and rap billionaire Shawn ‘Jay-Z‘ Carter was also targeted by Tory Lanez’s supporters. According to Cuniff, in the midst of the chaos that unfolded inside the LA Superior Court, “one woman turned and looked at the reporters sitting behind her, including me, and said, ‘Jay Z is a b****. Report that: Jay Z is a b****.'”
Megan Thee Stallion has yet to surface with a public statement following the verdict. Her lawyer Alex Spiro, however, reacted to the ruling in a text to Cuniff.
“The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg,” the text from her lawyer read.

Tory Lanez will be sentenced at a later date. The rapper faces up to 20 years imprisonment and deportation.
