Popular Amapiano producer TNS left his fans worried when he published a cryptic post on Facebook, hinting at deeply troubling mental health issues he may be dealing with.
TNS worries fans with suicidal post
The popular DJ took to Facebook, on Monday, to inform his fans that he had one more single release in the pipeline titled Kubi. While this was welcomed news, TNS left fans gob-smacked when he claimed that after the release of this single, he would take his own life.
In a climate where South Africa’s entertainment community is still reeling in the shook of Riky Rick’s untimely death, this haunting post from the Umona producer went viral, with fans pleading with the star to cling onto life.
However, in a subsequent interview with TshisaLive, TNS cleared the air, claiming his post was not a suicide alert, but rather a reminder to his followers about the importance of checking in on loved ones.
“As people we are not the same, we come from different backgrounds. My life was never easy from my birth, I have a lot of spirits. If I don’t pray, I know I will be suicidal. No-one knows. My daily prayers are what keep me alive. It’s not like someone wakes up and thinks about this. My life was never easy. I have suicidal thoughts. It’s not something that started now,” he added.
Mental health ravages South African celebrities
Following the death of Riky, many artists have come forward with their truths about struggling with mental health in an industry hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Popular Hip-Hop producer PH Raw also confided in his fans about his dire financial status. The renowned hitmaker admitted, in the last seven years, he has worked for change, garnering enough income to keep up appearances when, in reality, he “lived hand to mouth.”
“Over the years I’ve loaned so much money just to maintain my BROKE… Some I even forget I owe (embarrassing), cos as soon as I have it, I need to loan another! WHAT A JOKE… BROKE ARTIST. BROKEN HUMAN,” he wrote.
PH Raw has received public support from his peers following his tell-all. The producer later explained that the post was not a suicidal alert, but a way to “allow everyone that is going through similar things to know that you not alone.”
