Sir Trill had fans deeply concerned for this mental health when he took to social media to vent his frustrations in a series of cryptic tweets.
Sir Trill cryptic tweets send shockwaves across social media
The Emlanjeni hitmaker turned to Twitter to let fans in on the ugly side of his flourishing music career.
In the first tweet, Trill, whose discography includes top-streaming singles like Your Body featuring DJ Maphorisa, and Ematshwaleni, revealed that despite racking up all these hits in a three-year span, he’s allegedly never seen a cent for his work.
“It’s tiring and mentally damaging. So many hits and I’ve never seen a cent . I’m tired,” he tweeted.
Trill doubled down on his frustration in the second tweet.
While he was careful not to mention names, the Lwandle crooner hinted at the fact that he was owed monies by unnamed figures he worked for.
“[I have] never been an artist that talks much or exposes much . This will definitely be a joke to some of y’all . Which I understand . But it’s mentally damaging and exhausting . What are we working so much for ?” he asked.
Trill’s last tweet was the ultimate red flag for his fans.
The Amapiano star left his supporters concerned for his mental health when he thanked his loyal core fanbase in what he claimed was his last tweet.
Unravelling the mystery behind Trill’s cryptic tweets was not easy. For the most part, nobody knows who he was addressing in those cryptic tweets.
In July 2022, in the build-up to the release of his debut album Ghost, Trill had gone on a similar rant.
At the time, fans believed the rapper’s claims of sabotage were directed toward DJ Maphorisa, his mentor.
However, not much came out of that, since neither Trill nor Maphorisa explicitly addressed each other in their indirect responses.
This time around, fans were still none the wiser about the figures Trill was referring to.
In our research, we found that the crooner has, in his short stint as an Amapiano rising artist, released:
- Buyisa with Soa Mattrix and Soulful G (2020) – Exclusively owned by Soa Family;
- YinI Sdakwa with ThackzinDJ and Tee Jay (2021) – Owned by Neo Walts and Probst Junction, but exclusively licensed to Def Jam Recordings Africa;
- Emlanjeni with De Mthuda (2021) – Exclusively owned by Universal Music South Africa; and
- Your Body with Mellow & Sleazy and DJ Maphorisa (2022) – Co-owned by Sony Entertainment Africa and Mellow and Sleazy (Pty) Ltd South African Recordings
Sir Trill also made creative contributions toward a series of top-streaming songs such as DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU’s Banyana from 2021, Musa Keys’ Vula Mlomo from that same year, and a few of De Mthuda’s hit single releases.
Despite fans speculating that Trill’s vitriol was, in some way, directed toward Maphorisa, it’s clear to see that the crooner may be targeting any of the artists, groups and music labels listed above.
